I am using Windows 95/98/98SE.  For some reason it takes an awfully long time to connect.  The status just says "Logging on to Network" for at least 1-2 minutes, sometimes more.  Can this be corrected?

There is a setting in the Dialup Networking settings that can cause this particular problem.  Follow this procedure.

1) Double Click on My Computer
2) Double Click on Dialup Networking
3) Right-Click on your Dialup connection and Left-Click on Properties
4) Click on the Server Types Tab.
5) There is a checkbox there labeled "Log On To Network".  Make sure this box is UNchecked.

That should fix the problem.
